Length

150~200kb

385kb

~200kb

Array size (elements)

2400~30,000mer

70mer

Single-stranded 25~85mer oligonucleotides

Analyzed tool

dChip, FEATURE EXTRACTION 6.11,

Advantage

(1)  Relatively few printed elements on the array but still sensitive and precise.

(2)  Has lower resolution but it’s finite because of their large size.

Each array produced a different set of oligonucleotides which is flexible.

(1)  Calculate the chromosome copy number changes.

(2)  SNPs are detected in parallel.

(3)  A flexible design between individuals has included or excludes the regions.

(4)  Reduced the technical noise.

(5)  Handle degraded DNA samples.

Disadvantage

(1)  Mapping imprecision of the clones to the human genome.

(2)  Less sensitive in large sequence variations.

(1)  Has higher variation because of less insert clones.

(2)  More sensitive in large sequence variations.

Same

PCR amplification prior to spotting the arrays.
