令人遺憾的消息，Azriel Rosenfeld 教授於今年 2 月 22 日在美國馬里蘭州過世。Azriel Rosenfeld 教授生前任教於馬里蘭大學，並於自動化研究中心擔任主任。Rosenfeld 教授早年在哥倫比亞大學取得數學博士學位，並獲頒兩項榮譽博士。Azriel Rosenfeld 教授可謂影像處理與圖形識別領域之先驅者，他不但撰寫了世界上第一本該領域之教科書，發起該領域的第一本期刊，甚至還主辦影像領域的第一次的研討會。

Rosenfeld 教授一生發表了 25 本書，貢獻了超過 500 個章節和期刊論文。Rosenfeld 教授也是 IEEE, AAAI, ACM, IAPR 等單位的 fellow，他更曾獲頒 IAPR, IEEE Computer Society's Committee on PAMI, IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society 等單位的終生成就獎。
